The 18th Summer Courses on the Slovenian Coast (Koper) took place from 18-31 July 2011. The Faculty of Humanistic Studies was again a very good organiser where, in addition to studying, they allowed some holidays for its 62 participants.

This year’s numbers speak for themselves: 18th anniversary, 62 participants, 13 countries, 5 groups and a big number of proofreaders and assistants who did their best to transfer as much knowledge as possible to the participants.

Three members of the Association “Triglav”, Nikolina Čenić, Marina Šopalović and Aleksandra Rogić, took part at this year’s courses. Having returned home, they were filled with emotions and impressions of the two previous weeks. They say that, although it was a bit difficult sometimes, they had a great time.

Participants had classes every day. They had four lessons of Slovenian every day. This was followed by a short break, watching a Slovenian movie or more studying. Everybody opted for their favourite.
In the evening, various workshops were organised. Participants could have decided for Slovenian folklore, Istrian folk music, theatre or literary workshop. In this way, participants had yet another chance to learn something about Slovenian culture and also relax in good company. In addition, important to mention are excursions and new friendships. Participants were taken to various places in Slovenian Istria (Lokev, Tomaj, Škocjan, Piran . . .) and made new friendships. Namely, at the literary evening they met Mark Kravos, a Slovenian writer from Trieste; in Tomaj they met Josip Osti, a Bosnian-Slovenian writer. However, the most favourite thing for all was the seaside.

Although it was raining often, students had some time to swim and enjoy at the beach. Everyone claims that they had a very nice time in Koper although weather was poor. When you are in good company, everything is excellent.
