On Saturday, 24 June 2017, the Association of Slovenians »Triglav« Banjaluka marked VIII Slovenian Day.

It was a hot summer day, although it did not bother numerous visitors. They came to mark the memory of many Slovenian immigrants who had settled in Slatina and its vicinity. It is worth preserving the memory of the past, and it is worth passing it on to the descendants.
Again, we had stands presenting cultural diversity of different minorities but also some products from Laktaši. Our Association presented its cultural creativity, we had an illustrated map of Slovenia and quiz on Slovenia prepared by teacher of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian Barbara Hanuš.

The programme included performance by: Brkinska godba 2000, Vocal group Urban Maribor, music group Efekt Novo mesto, Mixed choir Davorin Jenko and Children Folklore Group of the Association of Slovenians Triglav. The programme was facilitated by member of the Association Ana Marjanović.

The beginning of the festive day was jolly, as Brkinska godba 2000 announced the celebration by their parade through Slatina. The attendees were greeted by a local, member of our Association Mladen Lunić. There followed speeches of the Mayor of Laktaši Ranko Karapetrović and consul of the Consular Office of the Republic of Slovenia in Banjaluka Marjan Ristič. Consul welcomed the attendees, wished them a pleasant day and also wished a happy National Day to Slovenian nationals.

VIII Slovenian Day, as always, was festive and jolly and also beautiful despite hellish heat.
