On holiday, 27 April, we organised a Book Night in Banja Luka. We remembered other holidays linked with the book. 23 April is the World Book Day, 2 April, Andersen’s birthday and International Children’s Book Day.

A message on the occasion of 2 April was prepared by Russian section of International Board on Books for Young People. Author Sergey Makhotin entitled it “Let us grow with the book”. We read the message as an introduction to the Book Night. We designed the event as inter-generational reading, the youngest reader was a pupil, and the eldest reader a retired lady. Pupils and students got cut-through poems by Saša Vegri, and worked in groups to identify the right titles of poems and put them as a whole. In the collection of poems “Armful of stones” they selected poems that made the strongest impression on them at first reading – some because of the message they carry, others because of humour, play of words and gentleness. Each person decided for one and presented it. Poems by Saša Vegri address the readers of different age, and that is why they were a great choice for inter-generational reading. Thank you to the association Reader’s Badge of Slovenia that presented the books to us. Therefore, the pupils and students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian will have further possibilities of enjoying good poetry.
