„Welcome, welcome home, to all of you who came to Prekmurje, Murska Sobota and Rakičan for traditional gathering of Slovenians from all over the world“, were the welcoming words of the presenter.

From 7 to 9 July, Murska Sobota and Rakičan were the places where many cultural events took place. The main event was on 8 July in the castle and its beautiful park in Rakičan. The guests were welcomed by mayor Boštjan Jevšek and Minister for Slovenians Abroad Gorazd Žmavc.

Despite the hot summer day, there were many stands where the hosts offered abundant and innovative cuisine of Prekmurje and refreshing beverages, there were two scenes where different vocal and folklore groups performed, coming from Croatia, BiH, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Canada, Argentina, Sweden, as well as famous groups (Hišni ansambel Avsenik, Vlado Kreslin z Malimi bogovi in Beltinško bando, etc.)

The Association of Slovenians Triglav Banjaluka has participated at the event for several years. This year, Mixed choir Davorin Jenko of the Association of Slovenians Triglav Banjaluka performed first. They sang three songs. There also performed young folklore dancers with Slovenian folk dance. Temperament dance, their youth and strong applause of the audience were visible on the rosy cheeks and smiling faces of the children.
