As early as in spring, the Slovenian Migrant Association published the competition for illustration of stories by Louis Adamič. The topic was From many countries involving pupils and students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian. They illustrated the stories of When the doorbell rang and New Year's Eve in New York.

On Monday, 4 December, an exhibition of children art works was held in Town Library Grosuplje and proclaimed award winners. The attendees were greeted by director of Town Library Grosuplje Roža Kek, mayor of Grosuplje Peter Verlič, president of the Association SIM Sergij Pelhan and representative of the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad Jelena Malnar. The programme was facilitated by Larisa Daugul. There participated children of theatre Hiška mentored by Irena Žerdin and young musicians Gross upi mentored by Polona Udovič.

The competition included works by 130 young people from seven countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovenia and Poland. In the category up to 8 years of age the best drawing entitled Lizard eating a banana was made by Miha Miklavžina, and in category between 8 and 15 years of age our pupil Mihaela Lunić. Her drawing Ease in eyes was also on the invitation to the exhibition and on certificates. Joint award was presented to pupils of ES Dornberk, who sent innovative patchwork. All participants in the competition received thank-you notes and small presents. The exhibition will be presented in the hallway of ZRC SAZU in March 2018 and afterwards on the premises of the Office for Slovenians Abroad.
