The Association of the Slovenians of the RS Triglav Banja Luka marks twenty years of successful work this year. On that occasion, mayor of Banja Luka Igor Radojičić received a delegation from the Republic of Slovenia on Friday, 13 April 2018. The main topic was the cooperation in different areas.

The mayor mentioned good cooperation in the field of tourism and economy and praised networking with local community, in particular with Ljubljana, Maribor, Novo mesto and Kranj, the twin city of Banja Luka. Very important is also networking on cultural and educational levels.

At the ceremony, Minister for Slovenians Abroad Gorazd Žmavc awarded president of the Association Marija Grbić a recognition and a thank-you note of the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad for invaluable contribution of Slovenians of the Republika Srpska Triglav Banja Luka in preserving Slovenian identity in the Republika Srpska. The Association was awarded recognition for 20 years of dedicated and creative work outside of Slovenia also from the Public Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for Cultural Activities and Slovenian Emigrant Association.

The Association Triglav awarded thank-you notes for support in development to:
City of Banja Luka, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republika Srpska, Cultural Centre Banski dvor, Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia, Education Institute of the Republic of Slovenia and Association for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto.
Thank-you notes for special merits in work and organisation were awarded to president of the Association Triglav Marija Grbić and Stanko Prosen.

The event included presentation of a video footage of twenty years of work of the Association and cultural programme with the participation of Mixed Choir Davorin Jenko, folklore group of the Association Triglav, children attending supply teaching lessons of Slovenian, as well as singer Laura Zober and piano player Dejan Janković. It was attended also by ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to BiH Zorica Bukinac, secretary of the Office for Slovenians Abroad Marjan Cukrov and consul of the Consular Office of the Republic of Slovenia in Banja Luka Marjan Ristič.

The ceremony and recognition will encourage the Association to continue with successful work.
