Spring is time for excursion. Students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian and members of Association Triglav visited central Slovenia, Dolenjska, Štajerska and Prekmurje in the past years. This year our aim was Gorenjska.

On Thursday, 3 May, we were on the way to Kranj. Principals of elementary schools of Kranj (France Prešeren, Matija Čop, Jakob Aljaž) and Elementary school Predoslje and Grammar School France Prešeren prepared rich programme. Aleš Žitnik, principal of Elementary School France Prešeren initiated last year the cooperation between the schools of Banjaluka and Kranj. For many students and members of the Association this was not the first visit to Kranj, but they still saw many new things.

Our guide Frenk took us for an afternoon walk in Kranj and told us in an interesting way about the history and development of the city. Friday morning was the time we discovered hidden parts of two fortresses – Strmol and Preddvor. On Friday afternoon, together with students who were in classes in the morning, went to Planica. New Nordic centre thrilled us all and also view of ski jumps was magnificent. Some climbed up all the way to the top of the big ski jump. On Saturday morning we drove to Ljubljana, where we took part in Trail along the Wire. This year the Trail was organised for the 62nd time while among 30,000 participants, who walked at least one part of the trail, were also Slovenians of Banjaluka.

Cooperation with our hosts in Kranj will continue while on Friday evening we had a chance to get to know them better. In Grammar School France Prešeren they prepared us dinner and cultural programme. Folklore group Iskraemeco made performance. They showed us dances of Gorenjska and explained parts of national costume of Gorenjska. They taught us dance of Bela Krajina and made us all laugh with the old folk game of hat exchange. Competitors take the hat from neighbour’s head and put it on own head. This is all done in the rhythm of music. When one of the competitors is out of the rhythm he/she is also out of the game. Members of Association Triglav tried the fun game, too. Excursions always bring new experience and events we will never forget. There also remains memory of beautiful buildings, area and stories of people who live there.
