In Slovenia, there are many nice areas and the Association of Slovenians Triglav take their members every year to a certain region of Slovenia.

In the preparation of the excursion we let the hosts organise it, because they know best what will be interesting for visitors. At such excursions, we visit natural and cultural sights, try important dishes and other things that ordinary tourists do not see.

This year we went to Koper and its vicinity. Pupils and students went to their peers and the programme for adults was prepared by Nataša Kajmaković and Luana Malec from the Central Library of Srečko Vilhar Koper. Upon arrival, the guide told us interesting stories about the history of the city. We arrived in Koper on April 23, when we celebrate the World Book Day, so we marked the Night of the Book in the library. They gave us a nice reception, we were greeted by director David Runko, which was followed by the interpretation of drama actress and writer Saša Pavček and her poem Rumi and the Captain, with the colourful illustrations by Ejti Štih.

On Wednesday, April 24, we first visited the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. The road led us to Piran, we visited Tartini Square and the Square of May 1, we climbed up to the church of St. Juri. We had lunch in Hrastovlje - in the Švab inn they cooked berries - a traditional Istrian minstrel. They offered it with freshly baked bread. One of the most important cultural sights of Slovenian Istria is the church of St. Trinity in Hrastovlje, listed on the World Cultural Heritage List. We looked at the famous frescoes and inscriptions written in Glagolitic. The last point of our whole day excursion was Marezige, a village at 280 meters above sea level which offers a wonderful view of the Bay of Kopar. We stopped at the monument to the victims of fascism and at the wine fountain - it's the only fountain for wine tasting in Europe.

On Thursday, April 25, we walked through Koper, and some to Izola. In the afternoon, full of nice impressions, we went home. Every excursion reveals something new, so we are slowly composing a mosaic of diverse Slovenian regions.
