Just as we who attend Slovenian lessons in Bosnia and Herzegovina have a student gathering, so do the students who attend Slovenian lessons in Serbia.

Students from Banja Luka were invited to attend the gathering on 11 and 12 May in Ruma. We were together with peers from Novi Sad, Smederevo, Kruševac, Gudurica, Niš, Belgrade and Ruma. Their teachers Rut Zlobec, Tatjana Bukvić and Zoran Jovičić prepared an excellent program. The first afternoon students participated in literary, artistic, sports, dance and cooking workshops. The evening was dedicated to literary activities, followed by socializing and night reading. Gatherings in Serbia are held under the motto Reading with Slovenia, which is why the emphasis is on getting familiar with Slovenian literary works. On Sunday morning, we gathered impressions and presented what we created at the workshops. A workshop on nature "Nature around us" followed. We went for a walk to Borkovac, which is a large 42-hectare excursion park. We collected plants in the park, and on the Borkovac Lake everyone made their herbarium.

Our hosts have made great efforts that we feel good with them. The gathering was held at the premises of the Association of Slovenians Emona, and the President of the Association, Zoran Jovičić, and his wife Vukica, together with colleagues, took care of everything we needed. The fifty students spent a wonderful weekend, this was not just a time for fun, but also for getting to know Slovenian literature. When we went through Ruma, we stopped at the monument to Three Children with a book. How symbolic! Participants of the gathering Reading with Slovenia were photographed at the monument of children who got into the reading of the book.
