The Association of the Slovenians of the RS „Triglav“ organised the 2nd Slovenian Day in Slatina on June 25, 2011. The organisation was as usual assisted by the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, the Municipality of Laktaši, the City of Banja Luka and our friends – Society for the Development of Voluntary Work from Novo mesto.
The first performance in the programme was that of our choir „Davorin Jenko“ accompanied by the instrumental group and vocal soloist Aleksandra Bilanović, which was followed by the performance of students of Supply Teaching Lessons of Slovenian from Slatina and Banja Luka with their show „Maček muri“, Folklore group from Kranj, Tamburitza orchestra from Dragatuš in Bela krajina – Slovenia, Octet „Zven“ from Črnuče – Ljubljana and Academic Cultural Association „Lola“ from Belgrade.
This year’s programme was also diverse while the guests were closely observing all performances. Special honour was paid to us by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in BiH H.E. Andrej Grasselli who greeted the attendees and wished them a happy National Day of Slovenia.

Following the diversity of dances, songs, music, charming performances by children, participants and guests rested for a while and had traditional Slovenian lunch. Thereafter, Sten Vilar from Studio Anima Medvode entertained the youngest guests with his „Box of wishes“.

Members of the Association of Slovenians „Triglav“ invested a lot of effort and enthusiasm in the preparation of the event while female members prepared many cakes which were served to the guests at the end.

In addition to the programme, there were separate stands where local and Slovenian products were exhibited. The Association „Triglav“ presented Slovenia at one of the stands using different characteristic objects for certain parts of the state. The other stands were reserved for the presentation of the following companies: Strašek Čolić, Mercator BH, Stojičić Soča with wines from Goriška brda, as well as KUD Piskavica and Society for the Development of Voluntary Work from Novo mesto with traditional wine “cviček”.

The event lasted the whole day and, unlike the previous year, weather served us well and the entire programme was held with a lot of positive energy.
