Cultural Centre Primož Trubar in Šentjernej

On saturday, 31 May 2014 state gathering of children folklore groups took place in the full hall of Cultural Centre Primož Trubar in Šentjernej, prepared by Public Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Cultural Activities (JSKD). Organisation of the event was on Regional Office of JSKD Novo mesto, while the assistance was provided by Elementary School Šentjernej.

This year’s programme of state gathering was prepared by expert associates Saša Meglič and Adrijan Novak. Groups, which wanted to presents themselves at the gathering, got involved in the three-degree selection system. Briefly, groups involved in children tradition prepared the programme of 5 to 10 minutes and presented it at regional gathering. They were supervised by seven selectors who prepared programmes of seven regional gatherings taking place at Bled, Ptuj, Dravograd, Brežice, Ivančna Gorica, Lendava and Idrija. Regional gatherings were supervised by expert associates who selected nine best contestants: Children folklore group Prežihovci, KD Prežihovci from Elementary School Prežihov Voranc, Maribor; School children folklore group Breznica, KD dr. France Prešeren Žirovnica-Breznica; Junior children folklore group KD Spominčice, II Elementary School Rogaška Slatina; Children folklore group Val, Elementary School Koper; Children folklore group Vesele šefle, Elementary School Maksa Pleteršnika Pišece; Senior children folklore group Kres, FD Kres Novo mesto; Senior children folklore group JVIZ Elementary School Dobrepolje; Children folklore group Kresnice, Elementary School Brežice; Children folklore group Šentlora, Elementary School Šentjernej.

Guest to the event was Children folklore group of the Association of Slovenians Triglav, Banja Luka, BiH, while in the non-competition part performance was made by musician Benjamin Videčnik and singers of children folklore group Vitanje Jurij Vodovnik Skomarje, musician and singers of children folklore group Pavrški otroci from Šentjan, Elementary School Šentjanž pri Dravogradu, musicians of children folklore group Domžale, Cultural Association Domžale and »Prekmurska banda« of children folklore group Veseli Marki, Elementary School Beltinci.
Selected groups and their performances were supervised by three members of an expert commission composed of Petra Nograšek (president), Bojan Knific (member) and Tanja Drašler (member), who presented special awards to two groups.
