May 20 is World Bee Day. On Friday, May 20, 2022, the Association of Slovenians Triglav Banja Luka marked it in cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture in Banja Luka and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Sarajevo. The Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia Damijan Sedar also attended the meeting.
Those present were greeted by Željko Vaško, PhD, Professor Goran Mirjanić introduced the participants to the importance of bees for the environment, and Damir Barašin, president of the Association of Beekeepers Association, also attended the event. The guests visited the faculty's apiary, and had the opportunity to taste bee products. The Association of Slovenians took care of entertaining the guests.
On Saturday, May 21, 2022, we celebrated World Bee Day with the children with a traditional Slovenian breakfast. With the younger children, we emphasized the importance of bees for the environment, watched a video about a traditional Slovenian breakfast and learned the bee dance. With the young people, we got to know the lavender of Kranj, solved a worksheet about bees and learned the song Pčelar by the Slovenian musician Lojze Slak. All participants of the event also received T-shirts from the Association with the inscription PRESERVE THE BEES.
