Introductory speech at this event was held by professor Miljko Šindić, PhD, who spoke about the work of Miroslav Vrabec, about him as a prominent scholar in the field of pedagogical science, founder of a new scientific discipline – film pedagogy, an exquisite educator, psychologist, professional in sociology and filmology, brilliant lecturer, participant to many professional and scientific events in the former Yugoslavia and other countries, as well as an author of many works of which the best known are 'My child and a film', 'Film and education – Basics of theory of film education' etc. Their memories of Miroslav Vrabec, as a professor whose lectures are remembered by older members of academic community of Banja Luka were shared by other attendees, including a well-known author Ranko Risojević, journalist Jovan Babić, etc.
Miroslav Vrabec was born in a family originating partly from Trieste and partly from Slovenia. He was educated in Čakovec, Varaždin and Zagreb, where he graduated from the Faculty of Arts. He defended his PhD thesis in pedagogy 'Film as a means to educational orientation of children of the age for primary education' at the Faculty of Arts in Sarajevo in 1965. His first job was as a teacher at teaching school in Gospić, and following the move with the family to Banja Luka (1954), he worked at Higher School of Pedagogy which later transformed into Academy of Pedagogy as a professor of pedagogy and film and radio and TV broadcasting culture until the retirement.

TRIBUTE TO PROFESSOR MIROSLAV VRABEC, PhD
As part of the event “Vezeni most” /Embroidered Bridge/, that was organized for the ninth time under the general sponsorship of the City of Banja Luka, a tribute to a prominent professor Miroslav Vrabec, PhD (1921 – 1997) was held in Banja Luka, in mid-July 2012, in the town hall of Banski dvor.
