The first Art Colony “Slovenians in Tuzla 2014” was held on the premises of Flame for Peace Centre Tuzla from 18-24 August under the organisation of Association of Citizens of Slovenian Origin from Tuzla and Union of Slovenian Associations in BiH "Europe Now".
Art Colony gathered artists from BiH, Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia. Participants were the following: Vlatko Zimmer (Tuzla), Melada Majda Huseinagić (Tuzla), Marijana Gregl-Bikar (Novi Sad), Nada Dobnik (Tuzla), Borka Jokić (Tuzla), Ivan Kosmos (Split), Davor Mešić (Ljubljana), Tatjana Ratković (Banja Luka).
The aim of the Art Colony "Slovenians in Tuzla” was the cooperation of persons of Slovenian origin in the territory, teaching Slovenian and implementing projects mainly in the field of culture and education, all in cooperation with the Republic of Slovenia. Organisers, Association of Citizens of Slovenian Origin from Tuzla and Union of Slovenian Associations in BiH "Europe Now” would like the colony to continue and improve each year.
Artists had the opportunity to create in a beautiful environment of the Flame for Peace Centre in Tuzla, wherefrom the result was twenty art works. Paintings were presented to the audience on 24 August in the same facility, where the audience, in addition to the exhibition, had the opportunity to enjoy Slovenian songs performed by “Slovenčice”. The audience was addressed by president of the Association, Dragica Tešić, as well as Darko Mijatović, president of the Union while the works and art sensibility was the topic of Davor Mešić’s address. The exhibition was officially opened by Mayor of Tuzla, Jasmin Imamović.
