Seminar KDO SMO JAZ? was organized by the Voluntary Work Society Novo Mesto from 20 to 23 November 2008, in Novo Mesto. In addition to representatives of our Association, the seminar was attended by representatives of minority associations from Novo Mesto (Serbian, Bosniak, Croatian, Roma, Albanian and Macedonian), as well as representatives of organisations from the countries in the region – Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Italy.

The purpose of the seminar was to undertake various activities engaging majority of the population and members of national minorities, thus creating conditions for mutual steps in removing borders among various surrounding cultural identities. Therefore, the major part of the seminar was dedicated to the role of recognising human rights and the consequences of their violation, as well as intercultural dialog and the role of the media therein. Lecturers were Kristina Plavšak Krajnc, M.A., Director of the Information Office of the Council of Europe in the Republic of Slovenia, Marina Lukšič Hacin, PhD, representative of the Institute for Slovenian Emigration Studies of the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Brankica Petković, Programme Director of the Slovenian Peace Institute.
Beside having the opportunity to attend very useful lectures and workshops, the participants to the seminar were received by the Mayor of Novo Mesto, Mr. Alojzije Muhič, visited Dolenjski muzej /Museum of Dolenjska/, attended the charity concert “Poglej me” /Look at me/, and the International Literary Marathon. The most important of all is that we exchanged valuable experience and examples of good practice, as well as that we socialized a lot and had a good time together.
