On Saturday, March 16, 2024, primary school students attending Slovenian language classes renewed their knowledge of St. Gregory’s Day.

St. Gregory's Day is celebrated on March 12, on the holiday of St. Gregory. The custom has its roots in the pre-Christian era, but people believed that it represented the arrival of spring, because according to the old calendar, it was celebrated on the first day of spring, when the light part of the day lengthens. Shoemakers, blacksmiths and other artisans, especially in the towns of Gorenjska, would stop working under artificial light. According to folk tradition, on this day "birds get married", so the holiday is also associated with lovers.

After the theoretical part, the creation of "gregorček" vessels followed. The students brought with them material for making decorations and very beautiful works were created. Luka's father Saša Perić helped us do it.

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, in the evening, we released our little "gregorček" vessels down the Vrbas River. Parents and other members of the Association joined us. Let the "gregorček" vessels take away all bad things, worries and winter with them!
