On February 15, 2020, the Slovenian Association of Citizens Jožef Springer Kakanj celebrated the Slovenian cultural holiday Prešeren's Day. Members of the Association of Slovenians Triglav RS Banja Luka also attended the festive event.
Members of the Slovenian Association of Citizens Jožef Springer Kakanj prepared a diverse program. A traveling exhibition entitled Intangible Cultural Heritage of Slovenia in the Light of the UNESCO Convention has been set up in the lobby of the Cultural Hall. At twenty-four panels, visitors were able to get to know the richness of Slovenia's intangible cultural heritage through photographs and brief descriptions of folk customs, crafts and many other traditions. The participants were greeted by the Mayor of Kakanj Aldin Šljivo, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to BiH Zorica Bukinac and the President of the Association of Citizens Davorka Drijenčić Špringer. The opening of the exhibition was followed by a programme in the hall of the cultural centre in memory of the great Slovenian poet France Prešeren. Students of supply teaching lessons of the Slovenian language recited songs from Prešeren's poetry, and a trio of musicians, also from the Association, masterfully performed two melodies. The guest of the evening was a journalist and geographer Dušan Tomažič, MSc, who presented his book Slovenian Ethnic Minority in BiH. He also talked about new statistics he found about Slovenians in BiH.
The festive event was accompanied by socializing, discussions about plans for the future and promises that we will see each other in the future. We thank the organizers, especially the president of the Slovenian Association of Citizens Jožef Špringer Kakanj for the warm welcome and attention we received during the visit. We wish them continued successful work.
