The Slavic Society of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina has finished the sixth literary competition in poetry and short prose.

84 authors participated, including the student Anastasija Babić from Banja Luka, who published her poem "Sun in the soul" in the collection "The destiny of all is revealed in me". They also finished the competition for the poster on the topic "Slovenian - my, your language", which was published at the beginning of last year. Students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian regularly participate in the competitions of the Slavic Society of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina, and this time as well. We were happy with the award again - Mihaela and Elena Lunić received it for the poster Root of the Word. All students received letters of thanks for participating.

The posters will be exhibited on the occasion of the European Day of Languages, and the presentation of the collection of works and awards was held on Thursday, June 10, at the Miran Jarc Library in Novo Mesto. The event with the cultural programme was very pleasant, Biljana and Anastasija Babić from Banja Luka also attended. In the explanation of the award, the representative of the artistic commission Klavdija Kotar pointed out the rich cultural activity of the Association of Slovenians Triglav. The award was received on behalf of the students by their mentor Barbara Hanuš, who emphasized the good cooperation with Novo Mesto, as well as the fact that Mihaela and Elena's grandmother comes from Bela krajina. Or as the students wrote: "Our roots are from Slovenia."

The guiding thought of this year's competition are verses from Vera Albrecht's poem "Everything is with me". In the Park of Growing Books in the Miran Jarc Library, they are richer for the new paper, the opening was immediately after the awards ceremony. Could such growing books come to life in Banja Luka and Slatina? Or would the newspaper in Novo Mesto represent one of the Banja Luka writers? That would add new ties to the cooperation between the two cities.

In front of the Janez Trdina Cultural Centre, there are posters of collages made in the project between 2015 and 2018 by high school students from Slovenia, Trieste and Banja Luka. Among the exhibited works is that of students from the Banja Luka Grammar School, our student Aleksandra Špehar participated. Culture knows no boundaries and encouraging creativity must be an important mission in all settings.
