64th walk along the wire 2022

In Ljubljana, after two years of adaptation due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the three-day event started again, this time the 64th Walk along wire.

Its culmination was on Saturday with a walk along the route, where there was a wire fence around Ljubljana during the Second World War. The route leads to the place where the Italian and later the German occupiers erected a barbed wire fence 35 kilometers long in 1942, along with more than a hundred bunkers. The event preserves the memory of Ljubljana's history and is one of the important building blocks of the city's identity.

In addition to preserving historical memory, the annual march encourages people to lead an active and healthy life. The event usually attracts around thirty thousand participants. Members of the Association of Slovenes of the Republika Srpska TRIGLAV Banja Luka participated in the walk several times, but, unfortunately, it never became a habit for us. This year, Jana and Goran Petković, members of the Triglav Association, walked the entire thirty-five kilometer route and won their fourth commemorative medal. They started walking on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at eight o'clock in the morning from the Livada inn, known to us Banja Luka residents.

After seven hours of walking, they ended their journey again at the same place where a lunch of popular local dishes was waiting for them. Of course, there was no shortage of drinks in the company of relatives and friends.
