On Friday, June 2, 2023, in the Youth Center, we had an exquisite musical event, which we symbolically called "When Slovenians meet, the song echoes".
The most beautiful things happen when they are not planned. Mrs. Sonja Mrmolja, representative of the Femal Choir "Večernica" had an idea which we gladly accepted, and the result was a gathering with a cheerful Slovenian song.
Everything happened spontaneously, and there was a lot of good will on both sides, so as a result we had a wonderful gathering. Our dear guests were two choirs; Female Choir "Večernice" from Ajdovščina and Men Choir "Franc Zgonik" from Branik, who sang five songs each. As hosts, we gave the guests more space, our choir introduced itself with three songs: Mlade oči, Lepa Nera and Mari mome. The hall was full of audience and performers.
On behalf of the city administration, the advisor for regional and international cooperation, Mr. Vedran Francuz, greeted the attendees. The event was also attended by the consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Banja Luka, Mr. Boris Jelovšek. Gifts were presented to the guests by the president of the Association of Slovenians of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Mladen Lunić.
The good atmosphere at the concert was further enhanced by the performance of the joint song "Po jezeru" at the end of the concert. The hosts prepared a small cocktail party for the performers. The guests brought us a crate of red cherries from Slovenia as a gift, which made us very happy and brought us back to the homeland of our ancestors.
