Article about the camp attended by 9 children from Banja Luka and Slatina:
From August 29 to 31, 2024, at the Bočica mountain lodge near Kakanj, the 10th jubilee camp for children of Slovenian origin in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held. The organiser of this traditional event, which has been held for ten years in a row, was our Association.
The first day of the camp started happily, when all the participants enthusiastically arrived at the mountain lodge Bočica. With a cheerful mood, the first planned activities and workshops went smoothly. The children got to know and bond with each other through playing, cooking, singing and dancing, and spent the evening under the starry sky in beautiful nature.
The second day of the camp was filled with fun and activities that delighted everyone present. After breakfast, the participants went on a short hiking tour to Gradina, a well-known locality with stećci, where they enjoyed the beautiful scenery and rich cultural heritage. Upon return, there were art and sports workshops that highlighted the creativity and team spirit of the children. The evening gathering was again marked by song, campfire and countless smiles.
The last day of the camp was especially emotional. Diplomas and prizes for participation in sports and creative activities were distributed to all participants, in recognition of their efforts and enthusiasm. At the end of the day, our dear guests happily went home, carrying with them unforgettable memories and a great desire to meet again at the camp next year.
We would like to thank all participants, as well as members of our Association, who, with their volunteer work, made everything run smoothly. We would also like to take this opportunity to express our special thanks to the Mountaineering Association "Bobovac" from Kakanj, which manages the Bočica mountain lodge, and who also made a significant contribution to the success of the camp.
Finally, a big thank you to the Office for Slovenians Abroad, without whose financial support the camp could not have been implemented. This camp has once again proven its importance as a traditional event that promotes togetherness, friendship and Slovenian culture among young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
