On Friday, 28 March 2025, in the exceptional ambience of the House of Milanović’s in Banja Luka, a concert was held by the male choir "Pobratimija" from Nova Gorica, with a guest appearance by the Mixed Choir "Davorin Jenko" of the Triglav Association.
On behalf of the Triglav Association, Lenka Debeljak Perušić greeted the attendees, briefly introduced both choirs and wished the attendees to enjoy the performance.
The audience could enjoy a diverse repertoire of songs performed by the "Pobratimija" Men's Choir, from "Zdravica" by Franc Prešeren, through "Triglav" by Jakov Aljaž, "Kraska jeseni" by Srečko Kosovel and Vinko Vodopivec, to "Tatjana" by Pavel Kranjak and an interesting mixture of Carinthian folk songs "Ti puebač ja kna lumpej", and other excellently performed songs.
Under the conductorship of Vanja Topić Vještica, our choir performed three excellent songs: “Mlade oči” by Jure Robežnik, “Jesenje lišće” by Bogoljub Dimić and “Dajte, dajte” by Aldo Kumro.
The male choir “Pobratimija” was founded in 2009 by friends who wanted to maintain their friendship and continue to connect their lives with singing. The choir sings compositions from baroque, classicism, romanticism to modern, and above all, classical Slovenian repertoire for male choirs. The source of the program are songs by Slovenian composers who have created an invaluable treasury of compositions for male choral singing.
Since 2020, the choir has been working under the direction of artistic director Professor Vladimir Čadež, a long-time member of the Slovenian Octet. The choir regularly participates in local events, and has also performed in the Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia and Germany. They are particularly proud of the performance at the invitation of the Slovenian Embassy in Prague, marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of architect Jože Plečnik in his Church of the Sacred Heart in Prague. In order for Slovenians living in Banja Luka to participate in the cultural activities of Slovenian association, it is important to provide them with contact with local creators in various cultural fields. This preserves and strengthens Slovenian identity and culture. By performing at a full-length concert in a packed hall of choir singing enthusiasts, MPZ Pobratimija brought the Slovenian cultural environment closer to Banja Luka and contributed to the preservation and strengthening of Slovenian identity abroad.
