On Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6, 2025, additional Slovenian language classes were held in honor of Saint Nicholas, the first of the three good December men who visit Slovenian children.
We talked about the Slovenian tradition of giving gifts in December, the younger students painted all three good December men, Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas and Santa Claus, while the older students made decorations and festively decorated the premises of the Triglav Association, where we have classes. We listened to Christmas carols, drank tea and ate gingerbread cookies covered in chocolate. Slovenian Saint Nicholas did not forget about gifts this year either. Every student received a gift, because this year, teacher Metoda was entrusted with the important task of spreading the Slovenian spirit of Saint Nicholas to all places where children diligently learn the Slovenian language. And it will be like this in the future.

MAGICAL DECEMBER
December is my favorite month because I get a lot of presents, because this month is my birthday and three good men are coming: St Nicholas, Father Christmas and Santa Claus. I have one wish for each of them, I don't like gifts to be very expensive, because the point is not to get too many gifts, but to hang out and laugh together and talk about different events.

December is a magical month, full of light, snow, gifts and joy. In Slovenia, three good men visit children in December: St Nicholas, Father Christmas and Santa Claus. If I were still a little girl, I would have three wishes for good people: I would like a bag full of chocolates and sweets from St Nicholas, a big dollhouse from Father Christmas, and a nice red scarf from Santa Claus. I believe that all three of them would bring me what I would wish for and that they would remember me with joy.

We always feel a special atmosphere in December, because it is the time when St Nicholas, Father Christmas and finally Santa Claus come. First, St Nicholas is coming on December 6. He brings more modest gifts, such as nuts, dried fruit, some chocolate or a small toy. Then, Father Christmas comes on Christmas Eve. He is more magical, because he brings bigger presents under the Christmas tree. At the end of December, Santa Claus comes, who is very famous in Slovenia for the New Year. He also brings gifts to kindergartens, schools and homes.

I am very happy when I see in the morning that Santa Claus has come and brought presents. Otherwise, when he comes, we go to grandma's and open the presents that are in shoes or slippers. These are very beautiful memories and moments we spend together.
