Friendships always yield something beautiful and good. Even last year, when a chance meeting happened in Banja Luka, the idea was born that the Male Choir "Vres" Prevalje and the Mixed Choir "Davorin Jenko" Banja Luka sing together.
When people who are connected by the love of music, joint creation and preservation of the tradition of choral singing meet, then it must happen.
The Male Choir "Vres" Prevalje has been operating for 55 years and is one of the most prominent Slovenian male choirs. The choir cherishes Carinthian and Slovenian songs and the rich choral tradition that was outlined by its first choirmaster Jožko Kert when it was founded. Today, the choir is led by conductor Helena Buhvald, under whose leadership Vres achieved significant successes in the country and abroad. Conductor Helena Buhvald leads the choir with talent, love, excellent knowledge and responsibility. The successes of her work are visible, confirmed at choir competitions, among which the Vres members consider their greatest success to be their achievements at international competitions in Bratislava and Tuzla, where they achieved the best result among all choirs and won the Grand Prize of the competition. Their song enchanted us, harmoniously echoing in the beautiful ambience of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska on Friday, June 12, 2026. There was a very large audience that truly enjoyed the harmony of male voices.
Our jubilee choir "Davorin Jenko" did not lag behind the guests and delighted the audience with three beautiful songs. The acoustic hall and mixed female and male voices were truly magical.
The best part of the evening was when both choirs sang together. We sang one song conducted by our conductor Vanja, and the second under the conductor Helena. The sound was magnificent and unforgettable. We were all aware that it sounded really good and we were mesmerized by the beauty of that moment.
This was followed by an exchange of gifts and a joint picture. And after that we had a snack prepared for us by our hard-working members of the choir and our dear conductor with the help of a culinary workshop.
