On Thursday, June 18, 2026, we had the last class of Slovenian language for adults for the school year 2025/2026.
This class was not like other classes. Namely, to celebrate the end of a successful school year, we prepared a snack: Ljilja cooked goulash and baked kuglof, and Jasna baked a cake from Bela Krajina.
The atmosphere was festive, full of anticipation, although we knew that we would all receive recognition for our diligent study. Our study of the Slovenian language does not only consist of studying Slovenian spelling. In the lessons, we spoke in Slovenian, learned about Slovenian history, culture, literature, customs, got to know the cities of Slovenia, their cultural and historical significance in the past and present.
With stories and laughter, we ate goulash and kuglof, and then the festive part began. We all fell silent when teacher Metoda Perger gave the final speech and handed out the diplomas accompanied by suitable words. Along with the diplomas, we received two Reading Badge books with a warm recommendation to read them during the holidays, namely:
-"111 Slovenian songs for more or less young people, and almost everyone else"
-collected poems by well-known and unknown authors, and a humorous book for children "Little worm Oto and other vermin" by Lovro Matić and Tomaž Lovrić. In the book of poems, we found a poem by Barbara Hanuš, our former teacher, published in 1982.
We parted ways this school year, with the wish that the teacher has a good rest and that she comes to us again in September to continue our socializing with a book.
