The Association of Slovenians "Encijan" from Zenica organizes a gathering of Slovenian associations from Bosnia and Herzegovina called "Slovenians, let's get to know each other".
This year, on 5 September, the president of our Association, two members of the Supervisory Board and one member of the Commission participated in this event. We are happy to respond to these invitations because we always socialize in a pleasant atmosphere with Slovenians from Zenica, Prijedor, Tuzla, Sarajevo and Kakanj. The new head of the Consular Office of the Republic of Slovenia in Banja Luka, Elizabeta Kirn Kavčič, was with us, as well as new employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Sarajevo. Ambassador Damijan Sedar greeted us all and thanked the president of the Association of Slovenians from Zenica, Dragan Gačnik, for organizing this wonderful event.
The cultural part of the program included the Female Choir "Slovenčice" from Tuzla performing three very beautiful Slovenian songs. The leading opera singer of the National Theater in Sarajevo, Aida Čorbadžić, enchanted us with her performance of sevdalinka. Janez and Dragiša were responsible for the good atmosphere and the crowd on the dance floor.
We found out that the same evening, a little later, the legendary Zoran Predin would have a concert in Kakanj. We couldn't miss such an opportunity and after dinner we headed to the concert. Almost two hours of an excellent concert, interspersed with the humor of the charming Predin, was a special experience. The concert was outdoors, lots of people, summer evening, really beautiful. And we took a picture with the great artist as a souvenir.
In the morning we were not in a hurry, we all had breakfast together and summed up our impressions from the previous evening. Then everyone went their separate ways, Aida to Sarajevo, Branka to Novo Mesto with the musicians, and we to Banja Luka.
