The Association “Humana” from Kranj contacted our Association wishing that their members visit Banja Luka, learn about its historical sights and meet us, the Slovenians of Banja Luka. We were also willing to socialize and meet our fellow-countrymen. Although the weather was poor, on September 12th, 2010 we showed them the main sights of the city. We told them about the history of the city, showed them the preserved sights from the Turkish times and subsequent periods, all the way to today’s Banja Luka which grew into a beautifully restored city, full of greenery, avenues and as a cultural and university centre. Representatives of both associations exchanged information and learned about each other’s activities, as well as the possibilities of future cooperation. Our socialising lasted for two days although it surely could last longer. It is in the nature of people not to miss buying something while being somewhere “abroad”. Following the visit to the monastery of Trapists, located not far from Banja Luka, our guests from Kranj decided to buy excellent cheese „Trapist“, made by friars using a recipe still kept secret. Maybe the guests from Kranj, while tasting the cheese, will find some similarity with the cheese made in Bohinj in Gorenjska?
