It was the sixth time that the Center for Slovenian as second/foreign language organised the Youth Summer School of Slovenian in Ljubljana. The Slovenian course started on Monday, 4 July and ended on Friday, 15 July. Those were two beautiful weeks that we spent in Ljubljana and on excursions to Škofja Loka, Kranjska Gora and Idrija.
This year, there were 134 students from 16 countries. We were divided into 13 groups. The first group consisted of beginners who do not speak Slovenian. They were mainly from Canada and the USA. The 13th group consisted of advanced students. They were mainly from Italy and Argentina. We, students from Banja Luka, were divided into three different groups. Milan Čenić was in the fifth group, Aleksandar Kelečević, Jelena Glizijan and Stefan Drinić in the sixth group and I, Jovana Dimitrijević, in the twelfth group.
During the course we discussed various issues, Slovenian culture and also learned Slovenian grammar. We also had homework every day. We wrote papers that we can read now in the year book.
We stayed at three-bedded rooms in Student Housing Poljane. The facility is about 15 minutes walking from the center of Ljubljana. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the facility. In the morning we had classes and in the afternoon different activities. We were always accompanied by assistants from the Youth Summer School. We had fun together and discussed various issues. They were surprised to see how many of us would like to study in Slovenia. In free time, we were at the playground or in the halls where we sang and had fun.
On Friday, we had the final event. Some students went home after that, and some stayed for another day. We all hope that we will meet again next year and that we will have even more fun than this year.
