Reading is surely one of the best ways to season your life, learn something new and use your imagination like never before. Unfortunately, children do not read much these days because either they do not have enough time or it seems to them that other things are more important.

On Tuesday, 22 November, a visit to Banja Luka was paid by an ambassador of reading badge M.A. Tilka Jamnik, who shared with us the beauty of reading poetry and importance of illustrations in books.

The first group of readers included younger pupils of Supply Teaching Lessons who read Ciciban, Cicidoj and poetry collection “Vrane” by Ervin Fritz. The second group consisted of 15 pupils of Supply Teaching Lessons and 2 parents, so we had to choose a poem each from the collection of poems “Majnice, fulaste pesmi” by Tone Pavček and read it. Poems are about teenagers so each participant found one he/she liked.
My favourite one was entitled “Želje”:

Tone Pavček: ŽELJE

Če si močno želiš,
se ti vse uresniči:
v stolpnico, kjer živiš,
pridejo k tebi cvrkutat ptiči,

pride s poljane drevo,
pride iz bajk dobra vila.
Če si želiš močno,
ti je usoda mila.

Če pa ničesar si ne želiš,
če si izgubil želje in sebe,
pride hudobna miš
in te s kremplji ogrebe.

Events such as this one should be organized more often as they teach us how to be better people, which is the most important thing in life.

Below are some impressions of participants to the reading event:

What I liked at the reading event was when we spoke and read poems by Tone PavčeaEach person had to choose one poem and read it. He/she also had to say why that song was chosen and what he7she liked about it.  We had a really good time.
Milan Čenić

I liked it all. What I liked the most was when we read the book and each person had to read the poem he/she liked the most and then got the book as a present.
Ivana Lujić

It was great when we read poems in Slovenian. I was really interested in what Mrs. Tilka Jamnik spoke about and as of now I will read more poetry.
Bogdana Petrović

I liked the most when Mrs. Tilka Jamnik spoke about poetry. She told us that children did not like poetry because it required more imagination and knowledge than stories. In stories there are more words and it is easier for them to understand.
Teodora Kelečević

I really liked when we read poems from the book “Majnice, fulaste pesmi”. Mrs. Tilka Jamnik spoke in a very interesting way and we all listened to her carefully.
Milica Glizijan

I liked the present we got from Mrs. Tilke Jamnik – the book.
Darko Đukić

I liked the most when Mrs. Tilka Jamnik spoke about a king and singer who was looking for the most beautiful song and finally found it in his heart.
