Following a successful meeting, our hosts from the Society for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto took us for a tour of medieval town of Kostanjevica na Krki and Carthusian monastery Pleterje. Despite the incredible cold which accompanied us throughout our visit to Dolenjska, we were extremely happy because our hosts showed us the opulence of the romantic town of Kostanjevica, located on an island encircled by the River Krka and the collection of natural exhibits made of wood used in the past and still being used by numerous artists worldwide in the then monastery and now Gallery Božidar Jakec and to many of us to date inaccessible, mystical Carthusian monastery Pleterje.
Full of new impressions and thoughts we stopped at a restaurant of rural tourism, where we were offered with ample local food. Our stomachs were full and we went to the place where we would stay overnight but we did not stay there for long. We had time to rest shortly and then went to a Serbian feast specially organised for us. It was prepared by members of "Serbian Association" Novo mesto. Atmosphere was extremely pleasant and, even though we were full, we could not resist Serbian specialities. We had Mrs. Meta Lokar from the Slovenian Emigrants’ Institute with us as well as a famous journalist Mr. Uroš Lipovšek.
Socialising was successful and work-oriented. Special thanks go to Mrs Branka, who is always an extremely good organiser and host. Thanks to the Society for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto for a successful creativity and assistance in planning new joint projects.
