On 8 and 9 June gathering of pupils of Supply Teaching Lessons of Slovenian from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a project of Union of Slovenian Associations in BiH “Europe Now”, was organised by the Association of Slovenians "Lipa" Prijedor.

Seven schools were presented at the gathering: SKD Cankar from Sarajevo and department of Slovenian community Kakanj as well as department Slatina, Slovenian community from Tuzla, Association of Slovenians Lipa, Association of Slovenians Prežihov Voranc from Doboj and Association of Slovenians Triglav from Banja Luka. 120 pupils made performance and presented what and how much they learned in that school year.
State secretary Matjaž Longar also attended the event. He greeted them all and stressed the importance of the schools for the preservation of the Slovenian language and culture.

In addition to the state secretary Matjaž Longar, the event was attended by H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Sarajevo Andrej Grasselli and head of the Consular Office in Banja Luka Branko Zupanc.

The aim of the gathering is not only to learn the language but also to encourage socialising among young people within the Union of Slovenian Associations in BiH „Europe Now“. We hope that through those activities we managed to create network among young people from different Slovenian associations in order to befriend and socialise in the future. Many of them have already met because they have attended similar gatherings over the years. For them, this event surely confirms their friendship and for new pupils it encourages the desire for new friendships.
