In the village of Piskavica at the foot of the mountain Kozara and at the Krajina Square in Banja Luka, from 29 June through 2 July 2012, the 8th Kozara Ethno Festival took place with approximately 300 participants.

At the ethno market which was organised as part of the festival, local products were promoted as well as countries which participated to the event. Local and international groups, as well as cultural associations from 7 European countries (Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria, BiH, Czech Republic, Italy and Germany) presented themselves in the show programme.

In the competition part of the programme there were 6 men and 4 women choirs from the area of Kozara and Potkozarje who competed for the three-string tamburitza (traditional instrument) and spinner. The winner in the category of the best native men choir is choir of the Cultural Association “Piskavica”, while in the category of the best native women choir is the Women Choir of the Cultural Association “Omarska”.

Kozara Ethno on the move presented itself on 2 July 2012 in Banja Luka at a parade of participants through the centre of the city, organised performance of guest groups and winners of the festival of native songs, ethno market and display of customs of Potkozarje.

Folklore group from Slovenia “Vidovo”, Šentvid pri Stični and ethno group “Amanet" were guests from Slovenia and our choir "Davorin Jenko" Banja Luka also made a performance.

A reception in the Administrative Service of the City of Banja Luka was organised for representatives of all groups, participants to the festival who met with the deputy mayor Mrs. Jasna Brkić. This year’s festival was closed by director of the Tourist Organisation of the City of Banja Luka Mr. Ostoja Barašin.
