On Thursday, 14 November 2013, in the Pottery Atelier SEM an exhibition was opened of objects made during the ceramic workshop, organised for Slovenians abroad by SIM for the first time, rather successfully.
The opening ceremony was attended by members and friends of SIM, while we were honoured by the visit of director of Slovenian Ethnographic Museum Bojana Rogelj Škafar. Despite the initial shy asking about the workshop there were seven Slovenian ladies from Banja Luka and Belgrade, members of the associations from those cities who applied to the workshop.
Most of the participants did not have any experience in shaping clay but it turned out that they were rather skilful thus surprising themselves as well. The workshop lasted for three days and the schedule was rather longer than initially planned because the participants could not have parted from clay. Mentor of the workshop sculptor Eva Peterson Lenassi is very experienced in organising such workshops. She was thrilled by the group and surprised by their creative and committed work. The exhibition of objects will be available in the Pottery Workshop SEM until Thursday, 21 November 2013, when it will be moved to Banja Luka where the Association “Triglav” will organise an exhibition for members and friends of the Association. Participants of the workshop are already thinking how to transfer the knowledge to other members and friends of the Association.
Given that we plan to organise the workshop next year as well, we would already like to invite all relatives throughout the world to think about applying. The workshop will take place in Ljubljana, last for three days under the mentorship of Mrs. Rogelj Škafar.
