On Saturday, 23 November, employees in the Library Anton Tomaž Linhart from Radovljica presented us a project for the encouragement of reading “Library – a galaxy of treasure”.
They opened a Chest of Fairy-tales in front of the youngest students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian in which there was a fairy-tale “Three little pigs”. Librarian Lidija Kozelj played the fairy-tale with puppets, while she also showed children several editions of that fairy-tale and an interesting book about pigs. Božena Kolman Finžgar brought a lot of picture books with Little Red Riding Hood fairy-tale in different languages. We looked at how the Little Red Riding Hood was dressed, what she was carrying to her granny, and how she saved herself from the wolf’s stomach. We were surprised to see how different the fairy-tales were. Slovenian Little Red Riding Hood carries a strudel and wine to her granny, Serbian Little Red Riding Hood soup and a cake. We got familiar with the Italian picture book where Little Red Riding Hood was made in the form of a comic. We saw many other picture books, including the one that is more intended for the adults than children. Both students of secondary school and adults were able to see how important cultural differences in different editions of fairy-tales were, we learned about the possibilities of borrowing and reading e-books. Katja Bevk presented us the project Biblos and internet website e-knjiga.si.
Upon the invitation of Božena Kolman Finžgar students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian will take part in the project of Library of Radovljica “Library – a galaxy of treasure”. We will be collecting stickers for the books we read and at the end of the school year we will get a sweet award. Library Anton Tomaž Linhart presented us with a number of books and magazines, which we immediately looked at and borrowed. Two students of elementary school who read the most of the books will be invited on 4 April to Radovljica to the event “A Night with Andersen”.
