On 25 September 2008, a Formal Observance was held in the Conference Room of the Culture Centre Banski dvor in Banja Luka, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Union of National Minorities of the RS.
The attendees were greeted by President of the Union, Mr. Stevo Haverljuk, who noted in his speech that the aim of the Union is to preserve identity and protect all the rights of minorities residing in this territory. He noted that the national minorities will independently take part at the local elections this year. Subsequently, the attendees were greeted by Mrs. Irena Soldat, Assistant Minister of Culture of the Republic of Srpska. Mrs. Soldat commended the work of the Union of National Minorities of the RS, especially expressing the optimism and desire for the success in minorities’ activities in the future.
