Novo mesto, 14 – 16.4. 2014
The spring month of April has already become traditional for gathering pupils of Secondary school Gimnazija Novo mesto and pupils of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian Banjaluka. A three-day visit and socialising with peers was organised by the Society for the Development of Voluntary Work and Gimnazija Novo mesto.
Reception, meeting of peers and abundant programme prepared by teachers Suzana Krvavica and Natalija Petakovič were unforgettable. Although many of us already know Novo mesto both youngsters and people accompanying them were pleasantly surprised. Exquisite »guides« did not pay too much attention to natural beauties of the city – one can easily see them, however they wanted to show us sights and cultural heritage of the city and present people by whom the city got famous.
The second day was dedicated to the visit of Ljubljana. In Slovenian School Museum the pupils attended a class of bon-ton of our grandparents. In the Secondary School of Hospitality and Tourism they met with pupils. Future chefs and waiters presented their cooking skills, the manner of serving and behaviour to guests, which was rather new to some of us. Our stomachs were full and we continued our way to Stična. We visited a Cisterian monastery where monks still live and abide by the rule »ORA ET LABORA«.
The third, last day of the visit the pupils from Banjaluka spent at school. They also visited a standing exhibition of pictures and records showing part of history of Gimnazija Novo mesto.
Socialising was soon over. They showed us a lot of new things. The invested a lot of efforts and gave us a lot of attention, not only pupils but also our hosts, teachers Suzana and Natalija and Mrs. Branka Bukovec. We are grateful for that and see you again.
