On 26 September 2008, on the occasion of the jubilee of the Union of National Minorities of the Republic of Srpska, proper Europe in miniature was presented in the National Theatre in Banja Luka. It was the Fifth Festival of Culture Activities of National Minorities funded by the City of Banja Luka and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, while media coverage was provided by the Radio and Television Broadcasting of the Republic of Srpska /RTRS/.
Together with representatives of embassies and consulates, mayors of cities of origin of national minorities, representatives of the City Administration of Banja Luka, and numerous other members of national minorities and their friends, we enjoyed a beautiful two-hour programme, in which 10 national minorities and their guests took part. We enjoyed the animated performance and vitality of young members, in which a lot of work and efforts were invested.
The Association of Slovenians of the Republic of Srpska Triglav Banja Luka presented themselves by two songs performed by the choir Davorin Jenko, accompanied by our Trio Fantastico and soloist Aleksandra Bilanović. Subsequently, our guests presented themselves: men’s octet Iris Trbovelj – Trbovlje and accordion quartet composed of students of Music School Marijan Kozina from Novo mesto. Given the enthusiasm of the audience, we are very pleased by the performance of members of our Association, and our guests.
Upon the completion of the programme, we continued to socialise in the Hotel Bosna. All participants, representatives of national minorities and guests enjoyed their time socialising and listening to music of different rhythms and melodies and songs in different languages. We could understand each other despite the differences and in that way we confirmed that it is the culture that connects people.
