From 5 to 8 June we visited Ptuj, Jeruzalem, Murska Sobota, Velika and Mala Polana, Beltinci and other beautiful places in Prekmurje.
We began our journey in Novo mesto, where Ms. Branka Bukovec always prepares interesting programme. This year she agreed that we visit pharmaceutical factory Krka. Next day, we went to Ptuj. We toured the town and went to the fortress, from where one can see the Drava River and vicinity of the town. Already in Ptuj we were joined by Vesna Radovanović and Simona Cizar, who helped us in planning the programme and accompanied us throughout the journey, in order to tell us more about history of places and people. We continued our journey to Jeruzalem, where an old Roman Catholic Church is located, dedicated to sorrowful Mary. Given that we were on a wine path we, of course, had to taste some wine.
The third day began by visiting Murska Sobota, Museum and Library. We went through Turnišče to Mala Polana, where cooperative Pomelaj is located. They showed us there how to knit articles of fibres of skin of different plants. In Velika Polana we learned about storks, we visited the house of author Miško Kranjec. We had lunch in beautiful environment near Copek mill. We learned what baking bread on grill looks like. In Beltinci we went to the exhibition of old bicycles, while in the afternoon we also went to Ižakovec. On the Love Island we tasted traditional food of Prekmurje: goulash and gibanica /pastry dish/. We say floating mill, an exhibition about bürjaši – people who built dams on the Mura River while on the boat on the Mura River we met a poet, author and scenario writer Ferij Lainšček. Students of Supply Teaching Lessons of Slovenian prepared a short programme, Simona and Vesna recited his poems, while Feri spoke about his life and work.
The last day started by our visit to Plečnik’s church in Bogojina. In Lendava we stopped at a Culture Centre where we were welcomed by Mr. Vlado Radikon, president of Association of Primorci and Istrani in Prekmurje. Their ancestors moved from Primorska to Prekmurje, whereas the destiny of those people was similar to the destiny of ancestors of members of the Association of Slovenians Triglav. In Pince Marofu we were warmly welcomed and had time to meet and socialise over some goulash.
In Prlekija and Prekmurje we saw a lot of beautiful and interesting things, and we also established new connections with members of Association of Primorci and Istrani in Prekmurje.
