School year has ended. On Wednesday, 18 June, we awarded certificates for the attendance to lectures and recognitions of Reader’s Badge of Slovenia. We were visited by Slovenian author Aksinja Kermauner and director of Library Anton Tomaž Linhart Radovljica Božena Kolman Finžgar.
Students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian are already familiar with books, written by Aksinja Kermauner, and they also made nice posters. The author is professionally involved in working with the blind and teaches about that at the Faculty of Pedagogy in Koper. Her literary path started in 1977 by a set of poems Dance of the Fairytales. Since then, twenty-one books for children, youth and adults were published. She showed us the first Slovenian picture book with buttons. In her books, children can meet the world of peers with special needs and our students had the possibility to see how all those who have problems with sight read and learn.
Together with Aksinja Kermauner there was also Žiga špaget, who helped in distribution of certificates and commendations. The table was full of book awards. Students who were diligent in reading received commendation and books from Reader’s Badge of Slovenia, while the publishing company Miš awarded books to students who had taken part at literary competition “When I grow up, I will be happy”. Božena Kolman Finžgar distributed books and chocolates to students who had taken part in the project Library – Universe of Treasure. All those who had not missed any lesson received a CD with fairytales. We sang a song “Happy birthday” to students who had their birthdays in June and, after that, children and their parents chatted for a while with the guests, looked at books and instruments presented by Aksinja Kermauner.
