Ministry of Education of the Republic of Slovenia organised a Summer School of the Slovenian Language this year as well, for the children with Slovenian background from throughout the world. The School was organised from 26 July through 9 August.
The children had their daily activities in the Elementary School Dragomelj, which is situated on the Ljubljana – Domžale stretch, and they were accommodated in Developmentally Impaired Children in Kamnik. There were 67 of them in total – from Macedonia, Serbia, Holland, France, Croatia, Germany, Great Britain, Belgium and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Four attendees of our School of the Slovenian Language from Banja Luka, received scholarships: Jovana Dimitrijević, Aleksandar Ambrožić, Luka Matej Đevenica and Danijel Pupić. Children were organised into appropriate groups according to their age and previous knowledge of the Slovenian language. They learned the language on a daily basis, but they also had sufficient time to socialise and get engaged in extracurricular activities. One of the favourite activities of the children after the classes was the preparation of Slovenian meals.
During their stay, children had joint excursions. They visited Old town in Kamnik, and the workshop in the Ethnological Museum. They had an all-day excursion to Velika planina, and visited Kamnik one afternoon and Arboretum in Volčji potok. Last day, a show was prepared for the parents during which all children showed notable improvement in the knowledge of the Slovenian language. Tears were also shed because of the parting but the wish was expressed to repeat this gathering next year as well.
