On 21 November 2014, it was joyful again in Banja Luka. Slovenians from the Association “Triglav”, together with numerous guests, celebrated for the 16th time, the old folk custom, christening of young wine or Martinovo.

Celebration of St. Martin organised by the Association of Slovenians “Triglav” with the assistance of our friends, sponsors is well known to many people in Banja Luka region. “Valentin” restaurant, as each year, was again filled to the last place. Members of the Association “Triglav” Banja Luka were accompanied by Minister of the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad Gorazd Žmavc, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to BiH Iztok Grmek, Consul of the Consular Office in Banja Luka Branko Zupanc, vice president of the Government of the Republic of Srpska and Minister of Science and Technology Jasmin Komić, advisor in the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad Marjan Cukrov, president of the Slovenian Emigrant Association  Sergej Pelhan, leading people of the city administration, secretary of the Society for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto Branka Bukovec, president of Mohor’s Publishing Company from Celovec Franc Kelih, representatives of Slovenian associations in BiH, sponsors and friends.

Introduction to the programme was made by the performance of young folklore dancers of the Association “Triglav”. It was followed by welcome speech by vice president of the Association Mladen Lunić, then giving books as presents to all Slovenian associations in BiH by Mohor’s Publishing Company from Celovec and the programme continued successfully led by Tomaž Simetinger. A music group from Novo mesto took care of good mood and the most important part, christening of young wine was done in an interesting and funny manner by Janez Čadež, who played St. Martin.

A toast to young wine was sang by Mixed choir “Davorin Jenko” of the Association of Slovenians “Triglav” Banja Luka together with all the present.
