On 13 June 2015, at the invitation of the Association of Primorci and Istrians in Prekmurje together with other guests at the celebration of triple jubilee, there participated also members of our Association, Mixed choir “Davorin Jenko” and Children Folklore Group of the Association of the Slovenians of the RS “Triglav” Banja Luka. That day was celebrated by Local Community Pince Marof – Benica and Association of Primorci and Istrians in Prekmurje.
There have passed 90 years since the establishment the youngest town in the municipality of Lendava, Pince Marof – Benica. On that occasion, the outdoor part of the museum of Primorci and Istrians in Prekmurje was opened. Marked was also the 100th anniversary of forced migration to Prekmurje and 70th anniversary of the return from the Šarvar Camp.
Three important events are worthwhile special marking of difficult and sad events, survived by those honourable, diligent and very pleasant emigrants from Primorska and Istria.
At the celebration, on a hot and windy day, there gathered a number of visitors. Among the guests, there was also the mayor of municipality of Lendava and one of the most important diplomatic historians in the western Balkans and a member of Slovenian Academy of Science and Art, Dr Jože Pirjevec. His speech depicted the weight of immigration and survival in the area which was almost impossible for living at that time. Human power and determination to live in the area won and they managed to survive and build new, better life.
In addition to other music groups, Children Folklore Group and Mixed choir “Davorin Jenko” of the Association of Slovenians “Triglav” took part in the cultural programme. The performance of Slovenians of Banja Luka, whose ancestors had experienced similar destiny in different historical periods, was awarded with strong applause. There followed introductory speeches that were worm, friendly and encouraging for further preservation of old and creation of new friendships and successful participation in joint projects.
