The European Language Day was organised in the National and University Library in Banja Luka as is every year. Association of Slovenians “Triglav” had a stand with books and sweets, while young singers performed in national costumes.
Students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian, who also attend folklore, sang an old Slovenian folk song Abraham has got seven sons. In the introduction, Mihaela Lunić emphasised the importance of songs which developed from common folk melodies. Folk songs are linked to different dances. Folklore’s trainer is Mirko Arambašić, and children gather to make live dances that were danced by their grandparents. Old dances were learned by each generation, and are still interesting. Such is also Abraham has got seven sons. It is performed in the way that one of the dancers makes different moves and Abraham’s sons imitate. Students sang a song and after the event all visitors were able to taste the strudel and pie at the Slovenian stand.
