In line with the approved project of the Slovenian Associations’ Union BiH “Europe Now” the Slovenian Community Tuzla organised the Gathering of Slovenian Choirs in BiH. The event took place on 10 – 11 October 2015 in Tuzla.
The non-competing concert was held on 10 October 2015 in the Concert hall of Bosnian Cultural Centre Tuzla, beginning at 19:00hrs.
President of Slovenian Community Tuzla, Mrs. Dragica Tešić welcomed all the attendees and wished them a pleasant music evening. Each choir sang three songs. Concert was opened by Women’s Choir “Slovenčice”, conducted by Prof. Lejla Mulaosmanović and Mirela Ibrahimović Mehanović, who accompanied the choir on an accordion. There followed: Mixed Choir “Davorin Jenko” from Banja Luka conducted by Vanja Topić, M.A., Mixed Choir “Camerata Slovenica” from Sarajevo, conducted by Fuad Šetić.
As guests there performed Mixed Choir SKD “Triglav” from Split conducted by mr. Marijo Krnić and DS “Planika” from Zrenjanin, conducted by Daniela Avram.
Following the end of the official programme all the choirs sang Avsenik’s “Slovenia, odkod lepote tvoje”. The soloist was Mirela Ibrahimović Mehanović, accompanied by a pupil of IV grade of High Music School Tuzla, Sarah Skopljak on a piano.
Choir singers showed what they knew and how beautiful Slovenian songs were.
Following the concert all those who had performed continued to socialise in the Hotel Tuzla. There followed the exchange of gifts, singing and dancing.
It is good to know that all the guests went happy and satisfied home the following day. We hope that gathering of Slovenian choirs will continue in the years to come.
