The Public Institute for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia gave recognition awards for lifetime and exquisite achievements in the field of amateur culture. Silver plaque at yesterday’s ceremony in Ljubljana was received by secretary of the Association for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto, Branka Bukovec. Congratulations!

"In over four decades of her work, Branka Bukovec assisted in the establishment and representing activities of many cultural associations, primarily of other national communities living in the wider area of Dolenjska and Bela krajina. She initiated the Culture Week Festival for them where associations present their cultural and educational activities, while in long-term, the festival contributes to tolerance and intercultural dialogue. Special attention was paid to cooperation with over 30 Slovenian associations active in the territory of the former Yugoslavia and Slovenian organisations in Italy. She organised over 400 international cultural exchanges. If we also add up exhibitions, symposiums, round tables and other events in whose implementation she assisted through the Association for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto, managed by her, there would be over thousand such events. Her activities in publishing are also important. She initiated publishing of fifteen literary and professional books, mainly published in cooperation with Slovenian associations abroad. Through many actions she assisted in collecting literary books for libraries of Slovenian associations, elementary and secondary schools and central libraries in Banja Luka, Doboj, Bihać, Tuzla, Prijedor, Sarajevo, Podgorica, etc." SOURCE: Dolenjski list
