Slovenian Cultural Association “Cankar” of Sarajevo was the host and organizer of the gathering of Slovenian choirs, under the auspices of the Office of the Government of Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad and as part of the project by Union of Slovenian Associations in BiH “Europe Now”.
Gathering took place on Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Sarajevo, in the Franciscan International Student Centre. In a beautiful new hall numerous visitors had the opportunity to hear jolly Slovenian songs performed by Slovenian choir «Slovenčice» of Tuzla, mixed choir «Davorin Jenko» of Banja Luka, guests from Zagreb – mixed choir “Slovenski dom” and hosts, choir of SKD “Cankar” of Sarajevo «Camerata Slovenica».
Participants and visitors were warmly welcomed by president of the Union “Europe Now” Darko Mijatović, who also opened this cultural event. Greeting were extended by Ambassador Iztok Grmek.
The audience enjoyed in excellent music programme performed first by choirs individually and later by a joint performance of “Slovenska dežela”.
