From 16 to 18 October 2008, students of the Supply Teaching School of the Slovenian language and culture from Banja Luka stayed in Kostanjevica na Krki. Students of our school have had very nice relations and have established good cooperation with the Elementary school Jože Gorjup from Kostanjevica na Krki.
They have visited them twice already but also hosted the students from Kostanjevica.
Seventeen of our students, accompanied by the Slovenian teacher Mr. Mario Sladoljev and Mrs. Biljana Kojić, visited this beautiful Slovenian town on the Krka River.
Our hosts did their best to make our visit as pleasant as possible. They welcomed us by singing a song of Banja Luka, whereupon our students presented themselves with a short programme. In the Jože Gorjup school-yard they organised roasting of chestnuts, as the very name of their town reminds of chestnut – kostanj!
The following day, our students attended regular classes in the school. It is worth saying that many of them actively participated in the classes, particularly at the lessons of the English language and mathematics. After that, our hosts took us for swimming in renowned Čateške toplice /Thermals of Čatež/. Then, they took us for rowing on the Krka River.
On the last day of our visit, the school principal Mrs. Melita Skušek and her colleagues proudly showed us over 200 works of art decorating this school, which celebrated 100th anniversary two years ago.
