Pupils and students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian, as well as members of the Association of Slovenians Triglav Banja Luka, visited Kranj, Republic of Slovenia, from 4-6 May 2017.

The visit was part of the project of exchange of pupils and students of supply teaching lessons from Banja Luka, Elementary School France Prešeren Kranj and Grammar School France Prešeren Kranj, where pupils stayed at their peers’, while members of the Association stayed at student’s dormitory.

Visit to Kranj was organised by Mr. Aleš Žitnik, principal of Elementary School France Prešeren Kranj and Mrs. Mirjam Bizjak, principal of Grammar School France Prešeren Kranj. Pupils and students of supply teaching lessons of Slovenian attended lessons at schools of their peers, got familiar with their methods of conducting classes, showed their knowledge of Slovenian and were commended for that.

In the meantime, members of the Association had the opportunity to learn about the methods used in the Grammar School by deputy principal Mrs. Tanja Ahčin. The school has got three teaching courses, general course, economic course and, a particularity, sport course. This course is currently attended by Domen Prevc, Slovenian ski jumper, who has proved to have excellent results this year in the sport. The school has got the most modern classrooms for learning foreign languages, music and art, biology, chemistry, physics, IT, as well as sport halls for all kinds of sports, rock climbing, dance and ballet. The entire school environment exudes dedication to knowledge, sport, discipline and cleanliness.

Beside the regular lessons, great attention in Elementary School France Prešeren is paid to nature classes, as well as school excursions (for which pupils collect old paper, sell it and use the money to partially fund excursion). Attention is paid to nutrition at school, which meets the highest European standards and is subject to most rigorous European controls.

All pupils and students, members of the Association, were accompanied by tourist guides during the visit to old part of Kranj, Brdo Castle near Kranj, trenches of Kranj, Radovljica, Bled and the Bled Lake. Each of the places has its peculiarity worth visting.
