On Saturday, 15 November 2008, the Association of the Slovenians Triglav paid a visit to a Slovenian family Hameršak from Derventa. This family has seven members who live in a very difficult social situation.
Beside representatives of the Association Triglav, President Marija Grbić and Mr. Mladen Lunić, this family was visited by the president of Slovenian Emigrant Association Mr. Sergij Pelhan and secretary Janez Rogelj, as well as representatives of the Rotary Club from Banja Luka and Doboj.
The Hameršaks are refugees from Bihać and they have not resolved their housing issue. They live in a rented facility of poor condition, while the only source of income is the pension of the late Janez Hameršak. The 7-member family consists of mother Zora, her three unemployed daughters and three granddaughters, two are high-school students and one is attending the first grade of elementary school.
This was a fact-finding visit, in order to get more information about the situation in the family and to find the way how to help them. We will make some specific steps in the forthcoming period. On this occasion, they were given some modest presents: a computer which will be of good use for the students in their further education, a package of food and some other presents.
We would like to appeal to all those able to help this family to contact Mrs. Marija Grbić at 00 387 (0)65 511 632 or Mr. Mladen Lunić at 00 387 (0)65 635 078.
