From 23-29 July 2017 a summer school – Slovenian in a different way was organised by the Slovenian Migrant Association, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and Institute for Education of the Republic of Slovenia.
This year the course took place in the Centre of School and Extracurricular Activities Gorenje pri Zrečah, in an idillyc village at 760 m above sea level. There gathered 14 students from England, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. Slovenian was taught by teachers Lea Lehner, for beginners and Katarina Rebič for the advanced, while art lessons were held by teacher Natalija Veselič-Martinjak.
Slovenian lessons were held in the morning and art lessons after lunch and dinner. In the afternoon, the employees of the Centre organised activities for participants. They organised point games, climbing, cycling, excursion to the Lovrenška lakes and swimming in Zreče spa, and on the last evening there was a dance party.
Beside learning Slovenian, this school emphasised art creativity. During those days of intensive school, they made drawings entitled That's me where they described themselves in drawings, painted using acrylic paint, made statues of wire, etc. They presented all their works at a short final event on Saturday, 29 July, when parents picked them up.
